An Established Non-profit 501c3
Mission of the Daycare Center
Our purpose is to help children learn, and to provide a full and healthy environment within a safe, comfortable facility. Our efforts since 2006 have made the Roatan Daycare Center into the preferred resource on Roatan for young children.
This program is committed to bilingual early education and nurturing childcare, along with multi-faceted play and a dedication to community. Our facility allows participating families to work full time with peace of mind, knowing their children are receiving the best of care.
The fine staff of Roatan Daycare Center includes a manager/credentialed teacher, a second credentialed teacher, two teacher’s aides and our devoted cook.
The Center
Our building is old and small, but recent renovations with donations from our supporters have made the spaces more comfortable with fans and a/c units, running water, and working bathrooms.
We have five compact rooms, two bathrooms and a larger kitchen space with a table salvaged from the original center. In addition to two meals a day and snack times, a number of activities such as crafts and artwork take place around the kitchen table.
Daily Activities
In the mornings, up to 30 children learn words and numbers, in English and Spanish. They are taught about their island and books are readily available to them. Children are encouraged to paint and make things, and singing and dancing are part of the regular routine.
The afternoons are filled with educational movies, naps, and snacks. This becomes a quieter time in order to unwind from the day’s activities before returning to their homes.
Contributors
Within the community, there are those who care deeply about children getting their start in life with a love for learning. These people donate time, money, equipment, and/or building maintenance. Others donate from afar. We are fortunate to have been beneficiaries of the Christmas Concert for the Angels, an annual fundraiser held at the Roatan Airport the first Thursday of December. It is only through this support that we can do what we do for the small children of Roatan’s working families. Island parents can go to work knowing their children are receiving many levels of service and care, in a safe and secure environment.
Our Directors
Judith Allred – Judy, a credentialed teacher, lives on Roatan.
Linda Hin – Associate Director – lives on Roatan

Kim Dueffert – Kim is a credentialed counselor, and is the stateside director from Minnesota.
